COURSE DESCRIPTION: Embark on a creative geography adventure where maps come alive with color, story, and discovery! In this hands-on course, middle and high school students explore the world’s physical landscapes and vibrant cultures through drawing, storytelling, and imaginative projects.
We’ll trace coastlines, sketch mountain ranges, and paint the patterns of climate and ecosystems—learning how land and life connect. Students will dive into mapmaking, travel journaling, model-building, and collage to tell the stories of places near and far. Virtual exchanges and cultural explorations bring the human side of geography to life—traditions, languages, music, and everyday stories from around the globe.
Through creative inquiry, students build real-world skills in navigation, observation, and cultural empathy while crafting their own artistic “atlas of understanding.” Every map becomes a story; every story shows how we’re all connected on this ever-changing planet.
Textbook: Not required.
