Did you know that Geography is everything?  It covers places, landforms, history, cultures, music, languages, religions, astronomy and even math?

Learn every state and country in the world and lots of important information about them through games!  We will play a variety of games every week from Carolyn’s vast collection of geography card and board games and the National Geographic Geography Bee.

Note:  This class can count for High School Credit; ask Carolyn for information.

Intro to Psychology

About the teacher:

Sharon has a BA in Psychology and a MS in Clinical Psychology, both from Vanguard University. Before she started teaching she worked as a developmental play therapist (using Stanley Greenspan’s Floortime method) and then as an ABA therapist (applied behavioral analysis), working with children with special needs.

She has been teaching at EIE Academy since 2014. She also taught American Sign Language, Psychology and Sociology full time at Maranatha High School in Pasadena for six years. She has a 6 1/2 year old daughter, Emma, 4 year old son, Daniel. At the end of the 2018 school year Sharon decided to resign from full time teaching at Maranatha so she can “stay home” and homeschool her children as well as offer Psychology and ASL classes at EIE.

Course Description:

Intro to Psychology will introduce the students to the systematic and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals. Students are exposed to the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within Psychology. Due to the content of the class this is open to students age 15 and older (exceptions may be made, contact teacher to discuss!)

Course Objective:

This course is designed to be a general introduction to psychology. The student will become familiar with the various aspects of psychological theory and hands-on application. This course is intended to be engaging, relevant, and an interactive experience.  The exact topics will start with the basics of Psychology and then will be geared toward the specific interests of the class. example of some topics may include: child development, sleep and dreams, memory, drugs, and personality disorders. I hope to convey my excitement and love of Psychology to all of my students.

American History Through Music! 

(Songs & Stories!)

Open to ages 5 and up (younger children may attend with a parent)

Description:   In this class we will learn traditional songs from American history and the stories behind them.  We will do a lot of singing, clapping and moving with great music while learning about American History.   Carolyn majored in music and has been a song leader for several decades.  End your week with music, fun and history!

COST:  $100 per semester (ask about family discounts)
